Soft crackleOften normal material burn.
Sharp popCheck debris, wick, and container.
Popping with sparksUnsafe if sparks travel. Put it out.
Popping after dressingThe dressing is probably the cause.
Before You Decide
Read the ordinary cause first. Then read the pattern. If you skip the ordinary cause, you will scare yourself and call it intuition. I do not work that way.
Do not burn loose herbs on or near a wick. They can ignite quickly and throw sparks.
