People come to me wanting to know what to expect from a medium session, and I understand why they ask. You are about to pay money and open something that cannot easily be closed again. You deserve a straight answer. So here is one: a medium session is not a performance. It is not comfort for hire. It is contact, attempted, sometimes achieved, sometimes partial, with something that existed and no longer exists in the form you remember. That is all it is. If you come in with that understanding, the session will serve you. If you come in wanting theatre, you will leave disappointed and that will be my fault for not telling you this first.
I have been doing this work for twenty years. I come from a line of baică healers in the Rhodope borderlands, women who worked with the dead as a practical matter, not as a gift, not as a performance, but as a skill learned slowly and taken seriously. What I offer through my medium sessions is that same quality of attention, translated into written form and delivered to you by email within three to five days. No live call. No dramatic pauses. No tearful reunions manufactured on demand. What arrives in your inbox is what I found.
How a Medium Session Actually Works
There is a great deal of mythology around how mediums work, most of it invented by people who needed the work to look impressive. I will tell you what actually happens, at least for me.
When you book a session and submit your details, who you are trying to reach, what their relationship to you was, any specific questions, I begin by sitting with that information quietly. Not immediately. I let it rest. In the older traditions I was raised in, you do not go rushing at the dead. You make yourself available and you wait. The descântece I use, spoken-word workings from the folk tradition of my grandmother's region, are not spells in the fantasy sense. They are a kind of focused attention, a pattern of words that clears my own noise so that something else can register.
What registers is not always what you expect. This is important. The dead do not necessarily give you what you came for. They give you what they have. Sometimes that is the message you needed. Sometimes it is something that makes no sense to you until three weeks later. I cannot control which it is. Anyone who tells you they can control it is lying to you or lying to themselves.
I write down what I receive. I do not interpret heavily. I do not pad. If I received something, you will know it from the specificity. If what I received is limited, I will tell you that too. The reading arrives as a document, usually several hundred words, that you can return to, re-read, sit with.
What a Medium Session Can and Cannot Do
I want to be direct about this because too many people arrive expecting something impossible, and then either blame themselves when it doesn't happen or, worse, accept a fraud's performance as the real thing because they wanted it so badly.
A medium session can give you evidence of contact. Specific details, names, objects, phrases, memories, that you recognise as belonging to the person you are trying to reach, that I could not reasonably have invented or guessed. That is what genuine contact looks like. It is not always overwhelming. Sometimes it is quiet and particular: the name of a street, a habit, a thing that was said once. Particularity is the mark of it. Vagueness is not.
A medium session cannot guarantee the person you want will come through. The dead are not on call. I have had sessions where what arrived clearly was not the person requested, it was someone else from the same family, or something more distant, or almost nothing at all. I will tell you this honestly when it happens. I will not retrofit a vague impression onto your grandfather's face and charge you the full rate for it.
A medium session cannot give you certainty about what happens after death. I know what I experience in this work. I know what feels like contact to me. I do not know, and will not pretend to know, the full metaphysics of it. What I know is that something happens. What that something is exactly, I leave to your own understanding.
A medium session cannot undo grief. I say this because people sometimes come hoping it will. The loss is still there after the session. Sometimes it sits differently. Sometimes there is a conversation completed that needed completing. But the person is still gone in the form you had them, and I am not going to tell you otherwise.
How to Prepare Before a Medium Session
You do not need to do anything elaborate. No fasting, no rituals, no clearing of your space. What helps is clarity about who you are trying to reach and why. When you submit your booking, give me what you know: the person's name, their relationship to you, when they died, any particular questions or things left unresolved. You do not need to write extensively. A few clear lines is better than several paragraphs of anxious context.
If you are reaching out to someone who died very recently, within the past few weeks, I will ask you to wait. Not because I follow some rule about it, but because in my experience, the very recently dead are often not available in the way that those gone longer are. The older traditions understood this. There is a period of adjustment, perhaps. I do not speculate on the mechanics. I just know that I rarely get clear contact in that immediate window, and I would rather tell you to wait than take your money and give you nothing real.
If you are not sure who you want to reach, or whether you want a medium session or something different, a tarot reading to understand a situation, or a focused one burning question session, consider that first. Tarot does not involve contact with the dead. It is a different kind of work. If your need is grief and closure, the medium session is the right choice. If your need is decision-making or clarity about a living situation, it probably is not.
What Happens During the Session Itself
Because my sessions are delivered by email rather than conducted live, you are not in the room with me when I work. I want to explain why I do it this way, because people sometimes worry it means something is missing.
I work in email because live sessions, in my experience, create pressure that corrupts the work. When a person is sitting across from you, or on a call, watching, they give off constant information: their reactions, their body language, what they lean forward for, what they pull back from. Even an honest medium picks up on this and cannot fully separate it from what they are receiving. The client, meanwhile, is watching for signs of authenticity and giving signals in return. It becomes a performance whether either party intends it to. The cold medium, working from written details, in stillness, alone, has less material to work with and therefore what they produce is more honest.
My grandmother's generation worked this way not by design but because they often worked with people who were not present. A family would send a garment, a photograph, a lock of hair. The healer would work with the object, not the person. The distance did not reduce the contact. It reduced the noise.
What you receive from me, three to five days after your booking, is the written account of what I found during that working. It is plainly written. It does not use spiritual terminology to make impressions sound more meaningful than they are. If I say I received an image, I describe the image. If I received a phrase, I give you the phrase. You decide what it means, if anything, because you have the context that I do not.
The Roma Tradition and This Kind of Work
I do not trade on ethnicity. But it is worth saying something about where this practice comes from, because context matters and the Roma tradition of working with the unseen is not the caricature that most people have been sold.
In the communities I came from, Rhodope borderlands, then Muntenia, women like my grandmother were not considered exotic or gifted in any theatrical sense. They were considered skilled. The way a midwife is skilled, or a herbalist. The knowledge was practical. It was passed woman to woman, with no ceremony attached to the passing. You learned by watching, then by doing, then by doing it enough times that you stopped doubting your own perception.
The descântece tradition, spoken charms used in healing and communication, is one of the oldest folk traditions surviving in this part of the world. It predates the Orthodox church's arrival and has absorbed elements of it without becoming subsumed by it. When I use these workings in a medium session, I am not performing a cultural curiosity for your interest. I am using a tool that has been refined over generations for exactly this kind of work. That matters. A tool that has been tested for two hundred years is a different thing from one invented last decade.
After the Session: What to Do With What You Receive
Read the document once, and then set it aside for a day before reading it again. First readings often catch only the things that immediately resonate and miss the things that will matter more later. Grief has a way of narrowing attention.
Do not try to verify every detail immediately. Some things will be recognisable at once. Others will require you to ask someone who knew the person, a sibling, a parent, an old friend. I have had clients come back months after a session to tell me they finally understood something I described, because they found an old photograph or had a conversation they had not known to have.
If something in the session distresses you, sit with it before deciding what it means. I do not soften what I receive, but I also do not know the full context of your relationship with the person. Something that looks difficult from the outside sometimes clarifies something that had been painful for a long time. Or it is simply difficult. Both things happen.
You are not obliged to do anything with what you receive. Take what is useful. Leave what is not.
