That is what tarot does, at its most honest. It reads the weight of what is already in motion.

Every situation you are living in has momentum. The way your relationship has been going for six months, that has direction. The way you keep making the same choice at work despite knowing better, that has a destination. The way you have been avoiding the thing that needs to be said, that avoidance is building toward something. Tarot does not invent these trajectories. It reads them. And when it reads them clearly, it can tell you where they are going.

That is a form of prediction. A real one. Not magic. Accuracy.

Can Tarot Predict the Future When the Future Is Not Fixed?

Here is where I will not lie to you: the future is not fixed. Some readers will tell you it is, that everything is written, that the cards simply reveal what was always going to happen. That is a comfortable position for a reader to take. It removes responsibility. If everything is fated, then the reading cannot be wrong, only misread.

I do not believe that. And the tradition I come from does not believe it either.

But they are often the surface of something deeper that the cards will go toward regardless. The cards do not answer the polite version of your question. They answer the real one underneath it.

Sometimes another question sits underneath first one. Will business work, you ask. But also, do you want what this work requires? You ask about relationship, maybe afraid of choice waiting there. We can look. Cards do not decide for you.

In my tarot readings, I do not avoid this. If what comes up is not what you wanted, I tell you. That is the purpose. A reader who only tells you the pleasant parts is not reading, they are performing comfort, and comfort costs you time and clarity you cannot afford.

Where Tarot Cannot Go

I want to be specific about the limits, because vagueness here is its own kind of dishonesty.

Tarot cannot predict random events with no roots in the present. A car accident you have no pattern leading toward. A stroke from nowhere. A lottery win. These are not in the cards because they have no current in the situation that can be read. Anyone who tells you they can predict pure random chance with tarot cards is lying to you.

Tarot also reads the person sitting in front of the question, not a universe of all possible factors. I can read what is in you and around you. I can read the energies of other people to the extent that they are present in your situation. I cannot read a complete stranger who has no connection to your life. If you ask me about someone you met once, I have very little. If you ask me about someone who has shaped you for fifteen years, the cards have something to work with.

And there are questions that belong to a different kind of reading. Messages from people who have died, that is not tarot territory. That is something else, and I do it separately. If that is what you need, a medium session is where it belongs. Mixing the two muddies both.

What Twenty Years Has Taught Me About Tarot and Time

Time in tarot is elastic. This is the part that frustrates people, and I will not pretend otherwise.

The cards can show me that something is coming. They are often much less clear about when. I have seen situations the cards called as six months out stretch to two years. I have seen things the reading suggested were distant arrive in weeks. Time frames in tarot are the least reliable element of a reading, and any reader who gives you precise dates with confidence is guessing. Or worse, telling you what keeps you coming back.

What the cards are more reliable on is sequence and condition. This comes before that. This is conditional on that. If you do this, then that. If you avoid this, then something else. These conditional structures, what my grandmother might have called the shape of a path, are what tarot reads best. Not a date circled on a calendar but a logic of events.

That is why a single focused question is often more useful than a broad life reading. The one burning question format exists because precision in the question gives the cards something specific to meet. You want to know if tarot can predict the future? Give it a specific future to look at. Not "what will my life look like in five years", that is too vast. "Will this decision I am considering change the structure of my life significantly?" That is something the cards can answer with accuracy.

The Roma Relationship With What Is Coming
